Forty year business owner,
lead systems integrator.
I opened my first business, a restaurant, in 1986. Four more followed, and I have signed the front of the checks, not just the back. In all five I was the systems and technology person, learning each new tool as it got better and putting it to work. That is why my team and I are a modern day talent agency today. You have the knowledge and the attention. We are the technical people who package it and build what sells it, so the attention you already have turns into dollars.
Forty year owner · systems engineer · fractional CTO
In all five businesses I was the one who picked the tools, connected them and made them work. Big companies have a name for that job. A CTO is a Chief Technology Officer, the person who decides which tools a company runs on and makes all of them work together. Most people who are very good at what they teach have never had that person beside them.
A restaurant. A mortgage company. A roofing company. A trucking company I ran for twenty years. And now this one, a technology company installing AI employees, and the systems that run them.
Good help was hard to find and harder to keep, so in the first four I did it all myself: the work, the books, the follow-up, the ads, and yes, I was the computer guy too.
So I have sat in your chair. I know what it feels like to be great at the work and still buried under every message, every sale and every follow-up. I have lived it four times. Steven James Consulting does not run that way. It has a team behind the work, and the systems that finally make a team worth having. That is the difference between then and now, and it is why my team and I can get behind somebody else's talent.
When somebody asks what I do for a living, I finally have the answer.
It took me a while. For years I could tell you everything my team and I build and still not tell you what we are. Then I looked at who we build it for: people who are very good at something, with an audience already watching. Getting behind talent is what an agent does. So Steven James Consulting is a modern day talent agency, self-proclaimed, and forty years of systems and processes is the reason we can be one.
Why it is new. This job could not exist before. If you had something worth hearing, you needed radio or television to be heard. Both cost money, and there was somebody standing at the door deciding who got in. Plenty of talented people never got into that space at all. Then social media came along, and it costs you nothing. A podcast is practically free when somebody else handles the technical side. The door is open now. Anybody can be seen.
What is still missing. Being seen and being paid are two different things. Plenty of people have the audience now and still have nothing to sell it, or no way to sell it without answering every message themselves. What they need is a technical person, somebody who can package what they know and grow it. Systems and processes are our special sauce. That is the job, and it is the one my team and I do.
Self-promotion. Here is the plain word for it. You have to do self-promotion to make your business work. That is true whatever you do for a living, and it is even more true when the thing you sell is what you know. Nobody ever showed most people how. So that is the first thing a talent agent does. I show you how to promote yourself on the platforms that cost nothing, and my team does the heavy lifting behind you.
You have to do self-promotion to make your business work.
Then we package it. Next we take what you know and package it into something a person can buy, starting with your own e-book with your name on the cover. When you package your knowledge and sell it, it is your intellectual property. Then my team builds the modern website and the sales system that sell it. That sales system has a name. It is our proprietary Revenue Engine, six business systems working as one, with AI employees doing the work day and night. Self-promotion brings the attention. The package gives people something to buy. The Revenue Engine makes the sale. That is how what you know becomes a real living.
What I see out there. I see people who will build you a website. I see people who will edit your videos. I do not see anyone who gets behind one person, does all of it for them, and stays. I will say that plainly, and it is only what I see from where I sit. So every page on this website and every system my team and I build has one job, which is to do that whole thing at a world class level.
The reps come first. A talent agent is only as good as the talent. I put in my own reps, and I look for the same thing in the people we take on. Nobody listens to somebody who has not done the work. If you have put in your ten thousand hours and you know your subject cold, you have something worth promoting. Our job is to make sure it gets seen and gets paid.
If you have put in the reps and want somebody behind you, tell me about it.
For forty years, every tool I ever bought sat there and did nothing until a person pushed the button.
In 2024 that changed.
Every decade handed me a slightly better set of software tools. None of them did the work. YET...
Phone and fax. The first websites. Email. Software that kept my customer list. Social media. I used each one as it arrived, and each one helped a little. But not one of them ever did the actual work. Somebody still had to sit down and use every one of them, and in my businesses that somebody was me. They were tools, and I was still the one holding them.
Then the tool started doing the work. I could finally hire the employee I had been looking for my whole career: an AI employee. It takes the training. It does not quit. It does not call in sick or take days off. It answers every message and every question the second it comes in, follows up, books the call, and circles back on the ones who went quiet. It does the job the same way every time, and I can see everything it does. That is what changed the math. You now have AI employees where you used to need human employees. They take the grinding, repetitive work that burned out every good person I ever hired, so a small team of people worth having can do what used to take a department. That is how this company runs, and it is what my team and I build for you.
What is the job? What are the fewest steps? What is the best tool?
I ask those three before my team and I build anything, and I have asked them in every business I ever owned.
That is why I do not chase gadgets. A phone call still closes a sale. An email still gets opened. A website you own is still the one place online that belongs to you. Those are old tools and they still work. I keep every one that earns its place, and I put the newest tools beside them, each on the step it does best.
The newest tool gets the same three questions. On its own, an AI is the smartest worker you ever met who knows nothing about what you teach. The part I have spent years on is turning it into a real employee that knows your programs, your prices, your audience and your way of doing things, then connecting it to the six systems that sell your knowledge. Your website comes first, because that is where you send the attention.
Put together, that is how my team and I build the whole thing: a website you own, your own e-book for sale on it, your own podcast feeding it, and AI employees doing the work behind it. It fits in one line: Attention + Your Product = Dollars. You already have the attention. We build the rest, each one around one person and what that person knows.
Five businesses taught me the same lesson five times. You only have to learn it once.
A fair question. You teach, you write or you have built an audience. Why would a man who ran a restaurant and a trucking company matter to you? Because selling what you know is a business like any other. Somebody hears about you. They get curious. They ask a question and wait for an answer. They decide whether they trust you. Then they pay you or they walk away. I have watched that same sequence in five different industries. The product changes. The sequence never does.
The restaurant. A restaurant teaches you that people judge you on whether it is the same every time. A great night followed by a sloppy one loses the customer. That only happens with a system, because no person is at their best every shift. For you, it means the follower who writes to you at midnight gets the same good answer as the one who writes at noon. Your AI employee gives the answer you would give, the way you would give it, every single time.
The mortgage company. Mortgages taught me speed and follow-up. The person asking a question today is interested today. Wait until tomorrow and they have moved on or found somebody else. And almost nobody says yes in the first conversation. They need to hear from you again and again. It takes seven to ten times before most people trust you enough to pay. For you, that is the system that answers every comment, message and form in seconds, and then keeps following up long after a person would have given up.
The roofing company. Nobody hires a roofer without asking who else has used him. People want to see that somebody like them already took the chance and came out happy. It is the same when a stranger is deciding whether to buy your program or your book. For you, that is the system that asks every client, student and reader for a testimonial, every time, without anybody on your team having to remember. The proof piles up on your website and does the convincing for you.
The trucking company. Twenty years in trucking taught me two things. First, know your numbers, because every mile costs something and guessing is how you go broke. Second, the easiest sale you will ever make is to somebody who already bought from you once. For you, that is the system that goes back to everyone who ever followed you, asked a question or bought something, and offers them the next thing you sell. Most people with an audience never go back. That is where the easiest money is sitting.
You get the forty years without spending forty years.
What that means for you. Every part of what my team and I build comes from a lesson I already paid for, with my own money and my own payroll. In four businesses I learned what has to happen between a stranger noticing you and a customer paying you. In the fifth I finally have AI employees who can do all of it, day and night, at a size no small team could manage by hand. You get the forty years without spending forty years.
If you want those lessons working for what you teach, tell us about yourself.
We did it for ourselves. We do it for you.
My book, Attention To Dollars, is where a lot of people meet us first, but it is not the only thing we are known for. It is the showcase. I took what forty years taught me, and my team and I packaged it the same way we will package what you know: written down in plain words, turned into a book and sold from a website we own. It is also a working blueprint, in the same order we build, for the person who has more time than money right now. Read it and build it yourself. Or read it and have us build it for you.
And the book is only one piece. Steven James Consulting runs on its own AI employees today, the same thing we will set up for you. The website you are reading, the book on it and the podcast are the same pieces every client gets, built the same way. So what you are looking at right now is what yours will look like, with your name on it.
From the outside it looks like a couple of websites. It is fifteen stages and about five hundred steps, and putting them together is the technical work my team and I do. Walk through this website the way one of your own buyers will walk through yours. Open the book page. Listen to the podcast. Then decide whether you want your own.
We package what you know, build the six systems that sell it, and keep making them better.
We build and install the AI employees on the six systems that sell what you know, and we put all of it on your website, where attention turns into dollars.
We give you control you have never had. A website you own, with all the attention you get pointing to it. Social media is where you get the attention. Your website is where it lands, and that is where it turns into dollars. Your e-book sits there. Your podcast sits there. The names of the people who raised their hand sit there. If a platform changes its rules next year, you still have every one of them.
I have been the customer you are about to be.
I have been sold reports full of likes and clicks by people who never made a payroll. A like does not pay anybody. A click does not either. What I wanted to know was simple. Did anybody come? Did anybody ask? Did anybody book? Did anybody pay? Nobody selling me those reports could tell me, and that is the reason I build it differently for you.
You get the numbers that pay the bills. There are deeper numbers too, like what a buyer cost to win and what one is worth to you over the whole relationship. My team and I track those for you and show them to you in plain words. I learned every one of them making a payroll. Those are the numbers that decided whether I made money for forty years.
So my team and I build it for you the way I would want it built for me: who came, who asked, who booked and who paid, in plain sight, and every system earning its keep.
The same map I drew in 2008, with your name in the middle.
Picture a wheel. Your website is the hub in the middle. Every place you show up is a spoke: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, your podcast. Every spoke points in toward the hub. Nothing points back out. I first drew that in 2008, the year I started my podcast, and I have not had to change the drawing since. Only the tools underneath it changed. Most people with an audience have plenty of spokes and no hub. People watch, they like what they see, and they scroll on, because there is nowhere to send them.
Your website. The middle of the map comes first. It is the one place online that you own. It tells your story, shows what you sell, and lets a person buy or book a call right there. Your part is to tell us your story and what you teach. My team writes it, designs it and builds it. From that day on, every video, clip and episode you put out has somewhere to send people, and a place for them to buy when they land.
Your own e-book. Attention with nothing to sell is just a crowd. So we sit down with you, pull out what you know, and package it into a book with your name on the cover. It is sold on your website, the same way mine is sold on this one. If you have never had a product, now you do. If you already sell a bigger program, the book is the first thing a stranger can buy from you while they are still getting to know you.
If you have never had a product, now you do.
Your own podcast. Your podcast is produced by our team and lives on your website, just like mine. You show up and talk about what you know. We handle the setup, the editing and the publishing. Then one recording from you becomes a steady flow of videos, clips and episodes on every platform, and every one of them points back to your website. That is how a follower gets to see you and hear you the seven to ten times it takes before they are ready to buy.
The Revenue Engine. Behind the website sits the Revenue Engine, six business systems that work as one. They are the lessons from my first four businesses, built for somebody who sells what they know. It is one build at one price, and all six go in. We do not sell it in pieces, because a piece on its own leaves a hole where people fall out. The order never changes either. Your website goes in first, because everything else needs somewhere to send people. Paid advertising goes in last, after the free attention is already turning into sales.
AI employees run it. A person cannot answer every message at two in the morning, follow up with every follower and remember to ask every client for a testimonial. An AI employee can. We train yours on your programs, your prices, your audience and the way you talk, so it sounds like your company and nobody else's. It works day and night. When a question calls for you, it comes to you with the whole conversation written down, so you walk in knowing the whole story. My team keeps it tuned.
What you end up with. Put the pieces side by side and you have a working business built around what you know. A website in the middle. A book for sale on it. A podcast feeding it. Six systems behind it, with AI employees working them day and night. My team builds all of it. Your part is what you know and the willingness to get in front of people. If that sounds like what you have been missing, we should talk.
If you want this map built with your name in the middle, the application is next.
The part I actually enjoy
What it is like to work with my team and me.
It starts with a conversation. You fill out the application, and then you and I get on a call. I ask what you sell, where your audience is, and who is on your team. There are three ways in, and I will tell you in plain words which one fits you. Do it yourself is my book, Attention To Dollars, the blueprint, for the person who has more time than money right now. Done with you is the Revenue Share Partnership, for the person with real talent who cannot write the full check today. It starts at $3,995.00 and it has its own page. Done for you is my team building all of it, with a few people on your side working next to the AI employees. The price range is on the home page, and you get the exact price on that call. Most builds take 4 to 6 weeks from the day we start. You get your own timeline on the discovery call.
A company, and me. Steven James Consulting is a United States company with a team behind the work. There are people who write, people who design, people who build, people who produce your podcast and people who train your AI employees. And I am on your account personally, from the first call through the build and after it is running. You get the team for the work and you get me for the thinking. That is how I would want it if I were the customer.
You get the team for the work and you get me for the thinking.
Your part. You bring what you know, and you show up. While we build, you talk with us so my team can package what you teach into your book, and you tell us when something does not sound like you, so we fix it. After that your part is four things. You record, because nobody else can be you on camera or on a microphone. You take the calls. You take care of your clients. And you take a short look at your numbers. Everything else is on our side of the table.
Our part. My team and I do the building. We write and build the website. We turn what you know into your e-book. We set up and produce your podcast, cut each recording into clips and put them out on every platform. We train your AI employees and connect the six systems so they work as one. Then we keep it running and keep making it better.
Your week, once it runs. It is those same four things. You record. You take the calls that come in, with people who have seen you several times and asked to talk. You take care of the clients you already have. You look at four numbers that show who came, who asked, who booked and who paid. The messages that used to land on your phone at all hours get answered by your AI employees, and the follow-up happens whether or not anybody remembers. You get back to doing the thing that built your audience in the first place.
Why only a few. We work with 5 to 10 clients at a time, and that is on purpose. A talent agency that takes on everybody is not really behind anybody. Every one of these is built around one person, that person's knowledge and that person's audience. Your book is not like the last client's book. Your AI employees are trained on your programs and nobody else's. That kind of work takes attention, and I would rather get behind a few people properly than a lot of them halfway. It also takes you. If having your own podcast and your own product scares you, we are not the right fit.
It keeps getting better. We stay after it is built. My team and I watch the numbers with you, find the step where people are dropping off, and fix that step. When you add a program, change a price or write a second book, your AI employees get trained on it. When something is earning well, I will show you the number and we put more behind it. That is how what you know keeps earning more.
